My name is Varsik Hakopian, and I practise orthodontics at Apolline Clinic in Uccle, Brussels.
My first name is relatively uncommon and reflects my Armenian background. I know Brussels well, having lived and grown up here since the age of ten.
I graduated in 2013 with magna cum laude honours, ranking first in my class. During my studies, I quickly developed a particular interest in orthodontics, a discipline that requires patience, rigour and great precision. These qualities, together with my commitment to providing high-quality care, have guided me throughout my academic and professional career.
As part of my master’s thesis, I also worked at the Laboratory of Anatomy and Embryogenesis within the Faculty of Medicine. My research examined the potential relationship between variations in the number of teeth, known as dental agenesis, and hereditary patterns among members of the same family. This intellectually rewarding experience deepened my understanding of dental development and of certain more complex orthodontic situations.
Throughout my career, I have completed additional training in several techniques so that I can offer each patient the solution best suited to their clinical situation and expectations. I provide discreet orthodontic treatment with ceramic brackets, lingual orthodontics with braces placed behind the teeth, and orthodontic treatment with clear Invisalign aligners. Being trained in several techniques allows me to select the most appropriate approach according to each patient’s needs and treatment objectives.
What I particularly value about my profession is the positive influence that the development of a smile can have on my patients’ personal and social lives. A more harmonious smile can also help strengthen self-confidence. Being able to support each patient throughout this transformation is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
